چکیده
Abstract Ethiopia is Africa's second-most populous country, after Nigeria, and primarily a farming community with low productivity that heavily reliant on rain-fed agriculture. Water scarcity, global warming, rising population all necessitate more effective water conservation methods. As result, the demand for dams increasing dramatically in order to provide safe drinking water, electricity, irrigation ensure food security. The goal of this study was use remote sensing geographic information system (GIS) techniques conjunction dam suitability stream model multi-criteria decision analysis identify potential sites multi-purpose construction. used six influencing factors find suitable sites, model's overall output maps proposed evaluated as result. Based topography land use, results showed three upper part watershed are likely preferable irrigation, fishery, clean supply. watershed's lower reaches, however, better suited hydropower generation. In addition, GIS useful dam/reservoir site selection because they allow decision-makers create, manipulate, manage relevant thematic layers.

Identification of suitable sites for subsurface flow harvesting using underground dam (Case study: Border basins of Torbat-e-Jam County)
Every year, large amounts of the country's water resources leave the country through political borders. Subsurface water is part of these resources that flows on the dry bed of rivers and becomes inaccessible without proper exploitation. Since Iran has many common borders with neighboring countries, it is necessary to pay attention to this issue. One of the appropriate solutions to prevent the ...
متن کاملIdentification and Prioritization of Suitable Areas for Artificial Nutrition of Groundwater using GIS and AHP Method (Case Study: Tajan Plain)
In the coastal region reduction of groundwater is one of the most important problems. Excessive exploitation from groundwater is one of the main effective reasons that will lead to the progress of saline water, especially in seasons with low precipitation. Therefore, at the current research, identification of suitable areas for artificial groundwater recharge in the Tajan plain (with an area of...
